As some of you may or may not know, Tomorrow Is Yesterday changed ownership as of Jan 1st, 2010.
The store is now known as Top Cut Comics and is owned by Jimmy Ballard from Chicago. Many of you may know Jimmy as the owner of Collect a Card N Comics in Chicago, as well as a past 2nd Place Champion at Worlds.

I want to reassure you that all of our Pokemon events will continue on just as they have in the past, our weekly tourneys and League, but now with many improvements to the store, including a much bigger gaming area, much more Pokemon and gaming related items for sale, and much more extensive individual card sales. So, a lot to look forward to!

So, Tomorrow Is Yesterday is now

Top Cut Comics runs Sanctioned Modified Pokemon Tournaments on Saturdays again,
starting Aug 28th, with the occasional exception of when there is a YuGiOh Regionals at the store
(such as Sept 25... then our Tourney and League will be on Sun Sept 26th).

(Registration opens at noon)
Our Weekly Tournaments are free to enter, and we give prizes as well as a few door prizes.

The core of Pokémon Organized Play is our sanctioned tournaments, where players can compete on a regular basis to build your rating & ranking! The Tournaments is more for competitive play, where players compete against other players, and depending on how many players we have, will play in three, four or five 40 minute rounds of play against a different opponent each round. Tournament players should be those who already know how to play the Pokemon Card Game, and have their own 60-card Modified decks. If they do not yet have a Sanctioned Pokemon Organized Play ID card, we will gladly provide one for them. Currently we have been having between 22 and 37 players each week.

The sets legal in the New Modified Format will be updated as of September 1, 2010. The New Modified format will still be Majestic Dawn -on. Players may not use cards from Pokémon sets prior to Majestic Dawn ,with the exception of basic Energy cards and cards that were reprinted in Modified legal sets.
Please make sure you're ready with a legal deck and review the legal sets for the Modified Format here.
(the new link from Pokemon Organized Play's website will be posted shortly)

Top Cut Comics has the Pokemon League returning to Saturdays starting August 28th. from 3:30 until 5:30 pm, following our tournament. Occasionally they will be on Sunday if a YuGiOh Regionals is held at the store, such as Sat Sept 25th. then Pokemon will take place the next day on Sunday. Always check here for details.

Each season runs approximately 6 weeks and is now free to anyone who would like to join.

The League time is less structured than the Tournament time, and is recommended for those who are newer to the game or those who more interested in trading cards, deckbuilding and earning promos in a more casual format. If you need to learn how to play, let us know and we can help!

The Pokémon TCG League is a great way for players of all ages to get together and hone their skills (and decks) in a casual setting. League members are rewarded for playing games, win or lose. The more you play, the more you earn! The 2009-2010 league cycle is broken down into eight seasons, each of which lasts about six weeks and represents one of the eight toughest Trainers in the entire Sinnoh region!.

During the span of the Trainer League, players will earn organized play exclusive promo cards.

premier events banner

I host many Premiere Events throughout the year, such as Prereleases, Battle Roads and City Championships. Most of these events will be held right at Top Cut Comics. If we anticipate larger numbers than our in-store Gameroom can hold (now approx 84 players), then we often hold those events up the street at the North Suburban Women's Club.

Our Premiere Events are always a lot of fun and if ever you have the chance to make it to one, be sure to do so! You'll always have a good time at a one of my Premiere Events, and I always bake cookies for those who come join us! We will keep you posted here of our most current events.

Our judging staff for various events includes Devin Peltier-Robson, Keny Bailey, Ryan Alperstein, Derrick Krenke, Bob Wise, Ryan Borgmann, Jordan Van Heesch &/or Adam Vernola.

In Loving Memory of Rich...

We at TIY wish to remember our good friend and Poke-Dad, Rich Williams.. He passed away suddenly on Nov 17th, 2007 at only 37 years old. He had been a regular player at TIY in the Tourney and League for many years and many of you have played either him in the Masters or his son Jeremiah in the Junior Division. He was loved by all of us at Tomorrow Is Yesterday and will be missed by all of his friends in the Pokemon community. He traveled to many of the area events, including Nationals, and always helped bring many of the kids to the various events if they needed a ride. He was always there to help loan you a card you needed for your deck or trade for that last needed card in a set. He was kind, funny, generous, and all around one of the greatest guys we have ever known. He was full of the 'Spirit of the Game' and we will all remember him forever with love in our hearts...

Rich W

As we would say in Hawaii, where my sons Devin and Dusty were born,
"Me ke aloha pau`ole."
"With never ending Love"

About the PokéGym & Team Compendium

Team Compendium serves one major purpose: to create and make easily available a place where any Pokémon player, judge, league leader, or tournament organizer can access and obtain answers to rulings on any question regarding the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG). As long as the Pokémon TCG is supported by The Pokémon Company (no matter who they have distributing it), Team Compendium will be present to get the latest rulings!

The Pokegym is also the place to go for all of the latest in Pokemon news... their forums contain information on upcoming events, the buzz on the latest card gossip, strategies, trading, and of course official rulings for all your TCG questions.

You'll find me as PokeMama there in the PokeGym Forums! Feel free to say hi to me!
